Florence, SC – On February 16, 2024, Teshan D. Jordan, 27, of Temple Hills, MD, was sentenced to 35 years after being found guilty by a jury trial of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, use of firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, and theft. Jordan was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment, with 12 years of the sentence suspended by Howard County Circuit Court Judge Stephanie Porter.

On June 21, 2022, Jordan, along with Fermon R. Nichols, followed and subsequently robbed a United States Postal Service (USPS) letter carrier, stealing the carrier’s postal keys. Postal inspectors and Howard County Police Officers responded to the scene and began the investigation. Within two weeks of the robbery, Jordan was identified for the repeated theft of mail from the blue collection box outside the Columbia Main Post Office.

On January 2, 2024, Nichols pled guilty to armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22, 2024.

“Our mission is clear: safeguarding the integrity of the postal system and protecting our employees is paramount,” said Ajay Lall, Acting Inspector in Charge of the Washington Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. “Postal Inspectors will continue to collaborate with our law enforcement partners to pursue individuals who pose a threat to postal employees and seek to exploit the nation’s mail system for their criminal activities.”

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service would like to thank our law enforcement partners in the Howard County Police Department, and the Howard County States Attorney’s office, specifically Howard County Assistant State’s Attorney Karen Gross, for prosecuting the case.
