Suspect Arrested in Homicide of United States Postal Service Employee

Wilkes County, NC – On June 26, 2026, at approximately 4:16 p.m. the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a request for law enforcement assistance at 304 Monteith Acres, Hays, North Carolina. Upon arrival, deputies discovered United States Postal Service (USPS) Rural Letter Carrier, Brandi Reynolds, deceased at the scene. Following an investigation, William Craig Durham was arrested in relation to this incident.

The investigation remains active and is being conducted jointly by the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
