Repeat Mail Theft Suspect Indicted for Burglary, Possession of Postal Key

Chicago, IL – On July 10, 2025, a joint investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Chicago Police Department led to the indictment of Jeremy Zaloun, 50, of Chicago, IL, while he was in custody for an unrelated burglary and mail theft incident. Zaloun was identified as the suspect responsible for multiple burglary and mail theft incidents in the Chicago Loop and North side beginning in 2024.

Based on the investigation, Zaloun was charged by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office with one felony count each of burglary and possession of burglary tools after a genuine postal Arrow key was found on his person during a prior arrest. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service appreciates the support of the Chicago Police Department in this investigation.

It is important to note that criminal charges are only allegations against a person. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
