0:02 our mantra is protect prevent enforced we go everywhere every day we don't give up we don't relent representing the badge and representing the Postal Inspection Service is one of the highest callings I'll have in my lifetime rest assure that we are here to serve and to protect you they say oh you're a lot like the FBI I like to tell know the FBI is a lot like us we investigate a number of crimes to safeguard society in general we're very aggressive in how we investigate things I'm there to make things right and things go wrong and make them right if you're innocent you'll be set free but if you're guilty there's no way you're gonna get around the Postal Inspection Service people say it can't be a lot of crying when it comes to the mail oh you're absolutely wrong we investigate mail theft fraud identity theft lottery scams large-scale crimes small-scale crimes narcotics cases opioid investigations methamphetamines cocaine heroin pump and dump schemes investment frauds mortgage fraud suicides and homicides romance scams child exploitation cases firearms trafficking robberies burglaries bombs anthrax and mail there's over 200 federal statutes postal inspectors enforce when stuff happens even outside of the inspection service they come to us at any given time any given moment can occur there's so much crime that happens with the mail that people don't realize [Music] postal inspectors are at the forefront of investigating these crimes and getting to the bottom of it what people don't see is the amount of time it takes to build a case when in reality it could be years before that takes place we're particularly focusing on being able to use intelligence and analytics in a combination to be able to put us in the right locations at the right times we're currently looking at technology which shoots through magazines so you don't have to get up close and personal with the powder we are very proactive in responding and protecting our employees we're trained to think about the worst case scenario and how can we prevent that from happening we as an agency feel very strongly about protecting people who can't protect themselves the feelings that I experience when a child has been victimized it's sort of like a protective nature that kicks in we have a lot of elderly and unfortunately children who are exploited the victims we sit are our most vulnerable population when I see a child or an older person that has been victimized I take it personal and I do everything I can to make sure that that person is brought to justice it's worth it to be able to stop that victimization a postal inspector is the oldest federal law enforcement agency we have in this country since August 7th of 1775 it has a rich history of transporting correspondence they understood what it was like to be cold wet hungry and in harm's way I reflect on those days of course back in those days of the train robberies when these inspectors were out there it's important that when I do put on the badge that I honor those that have come before me and those yet to come whatever we do we try to put our best foot forward to carry that badge with a high level of integrity in a high level of responsibility when I took that oath and I swore that I would protect the Constitution I took that responsibility upon myself every postal inspector swears an oath we have a code of conduct and a code of very strict ethics protecting others is deep in my core responsibility we're working 24/7 around-the-clock our job never stops five 10 years I'll be right here they have a passion they have a servant heart they want to help people I will get there as quick as I can I'm coming to help you because that's my job I always say I believe blue the law enforcement people that I work with are of the highest caliber they have integrity they League they care about people security is always on our mind the American public entrust their mail to us we ensure that it is safe I couldn't think of a better purpose other than to try to help and to protect people we've always respected what it means to be protectors of the public love the mail protectors of society we want to make sure that they're protected that they're safe and we're committed to that mission we have to protect the postal service all of the customers and we also have to protect all of the employees 650,000 employees and we're up for the challenge [Music] Captain America or Batman they're putting on their gear and get ready to go out and fight crime you're putting on the best you have two gloves on the tactical gloves on gang ready to make entry you feel that inspiration [Music] this is a finely oiled machine now getting over on us protect the mail protect us all as inspectors we're gonna show fairness we're gonna show integrity you're gonna treat you with respect and dignity dr. Saul is just that all creeds races religions ages what you're doing makes a difference in the world [Music] you
