Between November 2018 and January 2019, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of mail being stolen from mailboxes on the eastern side of Nassau County, according to a news release from Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper. Businesses and individuals were hit. Checks that were stolen from the mailboxes were then forged and placed into other accounts, according to Leeper.
